I'm such a BRAT!

Football season is here and that means it's time for Beer Brats! LD boiled brats in beer, bell pepper and onion for 20 minutes then the they were applewood smoked for an additional 20 minutes with the veggies on top. LD just ate brats and veggies. I had mine on a hoagie. It was so very delicious!

Haven't posted in a while but had a great meal last week. LD cooked skewered black tiger prawns on the grill. They were delish. Thinking and talking about them makes me hungry right now :)

Wings and Things...

We've been busy bees this summer and I haven't posted in a while. We just got back from Hawaii a few weeks ago. What a lovely, beautiful trip. I honestly did not want to come back. Ah well, glad to be back now and getting back in the swing of things. LD had a taste for chicken last night and decided to grill chicken wings. The wings were marinated and BBQ was not brushed on until right before they were going on the grill.

Last night I made roast beef with potatoes and carrots, served with white rice. It was delicious. The left over sandwiches weren't that bad either!! Yummy :)

New York New York!

Thursday night LD grilled New York strip with the usual marinades but instead of Guys seasoning he used BB's Back Yard Beef and Pork Rub. The meal was absolutely delicious!

Pasta Night

LD took a break from the grill Wednesday night so I decided to make Chicken Primavera. The ingredients in this dish are so delicious and full of flavor. Cook linguine according to package. Cut 1 1/2 lb. chicken into strips and cook on the stove with olive oil and minced garlic on medium high heat. Add in mushroom, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, oregano, basil, and thyme. Top with frozen peas. Mix with linguine and serve with grated parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper on top. YUMMYNESS!

Say Hello to my Little Friend!

Monday night as LD was getting the grill ready he found a lizard perched on the top of his dart board. He did not seem scared at all as I snapped his picture! We enjoyed turkey burgers and turkey sausage on the grill.

Yes, Delicious Steak Again!

Ok, so we like steak! Saturday night we had a few guests over and served ribeye steak with seasoned potatoes. The steaks were marinated with a hint of Italian dressing, worcestershire, Dales seasoning and Thomas marinade. The potatoes were drizzled with olive oil and minced garlic and seasoned with salt, pepper, and one of my favorites, Cavender's all purpose Greek seasoning. It is very good on pasta as well. The drink of choice was Lucid absinthe. It is just now available in the United States for the first time in over a century. Needless to say, I did not drink very much of it but it was a rather interesting drink :)

Herb Appeal

We started growing herbs this spring and it has been a delight to cook with them. We have them growing in a container and use them as much as we can. We also have taken cuttings and are in the process of drying them for use this winter. Right now we have basil, parsley, rosemary, marjoram, chives and chocolate mint. They are pretty plants and make our meals oh so yummy!

Last night we had a flat iron steak prepared on the grill. LD used the same seasonings and marinade as he did with the filets except he did not use Guys and instead used a backyard rub that a local preacher made. He topped it off with a few of the parsley sprigs.

My Weekend Guest

We had a guest over last night so I was not able to post until now but we had delicious filet mignon with grilled vegetables. We were having such a good time hanging out and eating that I failed to take a picture of the food after it was prepared. I did however get one of the filets as they were marinating. LD used his regular seasoning of lemon juice, worcestershire and Italian dressing. He topped it off with a hint of Montreal spice, Shapley's and Texjoy. After ladling sauce over steaks for 45 minutes, LD added the final ingredient of Guy's seasoning available at http://guysseasoning.com. Season side down was seared over the flame as he poured remainder of the sauce over the steak. It was delicious!

What's Cooking Tonight??

My boyfriend loves to grill and I am becoming pretty handy in the kitchen myself.  It's not uncommon for a neighbor or friend to call us each night asking "What's on the grill?" or "What are y'all cooking tonight?"  This blog was an idea that he and a friend came up with but I decided to put to put it life.  You know men, they just talk mostly!

I have been reading other cooking blogs and have found them to be such a delight.  I just had to have my own.  I am not an expert by any means but I can share ideas and hopefully learn a thing or two from you.  So let's get started!

We start this blog on a beautiful rainy Friday night.  The rain has helped a little tonight and it is actually pleasant outside.  LD is grilling as we speak. One of our neighbors brought over fresh redfish last night and he just couldn't wait to put it on the grill.  He seasoned with a mixture of Tony's, BB's BBQ rub and Shapley's.  He just walked in from outside, it should not be long.  I am preparing green beans and brown rice.  Nothing fancy but should compliment the fish well.
